Grooming
I'm not going to call it a fetish, but I will call it a recent facination with the ideas of shaving and skin care.
As I recently posted, I found myself in a place that actually sparked more than a passing interest in skin care. I know, I know, please, save your derision. But this passing interest has surfaced something that I had no idea was going on in our culture. There is an entire subculture and marketing movement around men taking care of their skin.
No kidding.
There's ShavingStuff.com, a|MEN|ity and Buzzskin.com,just to name a few. Not to mention sites like On-the-Fly and Grooming Lounge.
A whole subculture, I'm telling you.
But there is a dark side to all this. There are some sites that go too far. WAY to far. Let's just agree to Just say "No" to makeup..I REAPEAT...Say NO to makeup unless the next words out of your mouth are going to be "If music be the food of love, play on.", you stand frequently under (and can identify) a fresnel, and can define the word exeunt and it's origins.
A double standard? Perhaps. But that's my perogative.
Posted by Chuck Charbeneau at February 21, 2006 11:28 PMMost days I wash my face. With soap. In the shower. And I don't usually even wear makeup in the above situations.
Posted by: ish at February 22, 2006 09:36 AMIt would, however, be acceptable, since I've seen the Fresnel you have wired up in there, and the show tunes...good GOD the show tunes...

and yeah.. I'd call it a 'fetish'. :)
