5. There's a new episode of Top Chef on tonight.
4. I'm wearing another size smaller pants. Yay!
3. Lisa's got a call back for Mame.
2. My girl is sleeping peacefully after a busy day.
1. Chuck's coming home tomorrow.
It's been so long since I've posted that I have a lot of catching up to do. I don't think it's all going to get done tonight because I also have a lot of dishes to do.
This week my Rachel has been working really hard. She started cruising the furniture, yesterday she clapped her hands for the first time, and today she was practicing standing on her own as often as she could. She was so amused with herself. She'd pull herself up on something and then just let go and stand there, giddy that she had accomplished something new. Then she started standing up on her own without pulling up on anything at all. I'm just so glad that she went to sleep well tonight. My brother warned me that it seems that when a baby is about to accomplish a great milestone that she regresses a little. The past couple of nights have been hard on Rachel and me. Last night I gave in and held her until she fell asleep. I haven't done that in three months or so. Tonight she went to bed on her own snuggled up to Eeyore instead of Mama.
Also, when we read our good night-night story before bed she said "nigh-nigh". How sweet is that?! I love my girl. She's really starting to copy most of the words and sounds I say. She sat on my lap as I filled the bathtub and said "ba, ba, ba"; she was so excited for her bath. By the way it was the splashy-est bath to date. I was soaked. My little girl is growing up so fast.
Rachel is 18 lbs 13 ozs and 29 inches long as of our doctor visit today.
There is nothing in the world like being a daddy.
Rachel was had a really hard time falling asleep last night and this morning for nap. I ended up stepping in this morning to nurse her hoping that, unlike last night, it would help her relax and fall asleep. Today it worked. She is currently snoozing with Eeyore right now. I'm taking a break from cleaning to check email and I thought I'd write a few lines.
We have a wedding to go to in August and got the go-ahead to bring Rachel. Now I have to decide whether it's reasonable to go. We'd be traveling to the wedding and that's a lot of work with a baby. She won't have a place to sleep there, so she probably won't get a nap and we'll have to head home that night. She'll be 10 months already, so she'll probably want to be crawling around and getting into things. I'll have to think about it. On the other hand, I'll get to visit with my family, we'll get to do something more interesting than hanging around the house, and Rachel already has a super-cute dress we picked out on our secret mission to Hanover.
Back to cleaning...
This has been a long week. Chuck spent the weekend in The Cities. He had some work and a friend's wedding to attend. It's okay that he spent the weekend away, but I'm getting excited to see him. I could use a break and some snuggles. I'm really looking forward to our date this Thursday. We going out to Ciatti's again to see John and Dan. Grandma A is planning to baby sit and I'm planning on having a good time. The weather is suposed to be really nice.
We're picnicing at Lisa's for the 4th and plan to get some good house cleaning done before the big party next week. The Company Store outlet usually has a tent sale the weekend of July 4, so I'm hoping to hit that up. I'd like to get some new towels and maybe some sheets for the guest room. Anyway, one day and one night until we get Dahd back. Yay!
My little sleepydoo refused to take an afternoon nap. Tonight she ended up in bed by 5:00!! Yikes. I know she'll wake up early tomorrow. Oh well. Hopefully she gets good naps in tomorrow and we can reset her bedtime for 6:00 again. Rachel took a great morning nap today, but not so great that she didn't need a second. What a little stinker. Grandma and Grandpa A came over this afternoon and that helped keep her busy. They brought with them a curtain rod for her room so I can finally put up her valance.
Aunty Lisa brought over her sander for me this week. I'd like to refinish her bookshelf to match her Honey Bee room. I'm not sure if we'll get that done before our housewarming party, but I'd like to get started anyway. I like to put her books away.
I have a lot to do for the party. In fact I should be going over the menu right now. Lisa sent a bunch of serving dishes for me to use and I need to make sure I have the dishes I need for the food I'm having. Anyhoo, I'm off to finish my laundry and dishes first.
