Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

I'm sitting in my living room watching the snow gently falling and know that it will start piling up fast. Rachel's sleeping, Chuck's shoveling, and I've got my bills paid and Christmas cards in the mail.

We're invited to Mom and Dad's for dinner tonight. It will be nice to have a family dinner before we leave for the week. We head out Monday morning for Christmas in Michigan with Chuck's family. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone although I have a feeling this will be a hard week for us. Rachel will be using her new toddler airmattress at the hotel and I'm not quite sure any of us will get much sleep. She might just surprise us and stay in her bed, but she's a little jumping bean at bedtime and I see a sleepless week in our future.

I still haven't decorated the tree and I'm hoping I can get Lisa to put some things on it while we're on vacation so it looks like Santa's been here while we've been gone. I'm sure she'll make it look really nice. I may even leave some cookies out for her. *grin*

December busyness

December is rolling along at a fast pace around here. We're halfway through the month and there's still so much to do. I have most of my Christmas shopping done. I'm waiting on a few online orders and have a few things to pick up while I'm out and about this weekend. I'm hoping to get out to The Company Store and a few others spots this weekend. Maybe Lisa and I can head out for some last minute shopping and then back here to bake some cookies. I'm sure we'll want to do some peanut logs and cut-out cookies (Chuck's favorite) and I'd like to make Sanbakkels (my favorite). I was thinking I wanted to learn how to make lefse this year. That means this weekend or next.

We have Christmas pictures to pick up and laundry too. We all need haircuts! Then we need to pack our bags. In just over a week we're off to Michigan for Christmas with Chuck's family. I have most of the Michigan gifts wrapped up. I don't know what to do about Rachel's gifts yet. Do I bring them? I could send them to Mom and Dad's for her to open there at our family's celebration. What do I do about Santa? Should I tell him we'll be in Michigan or let him know it's okay to leave something under our tree because we'll be back soon? Hmmm. I'd better figure this stuff out soon.

We're renting a minivan to travel again this year. It is so nice to be on our own schedule (not an airline's) and stop when and where we want. Rachel is already looking forward to seeing the ladies who work the breakfast buffet at the hotel. She has already asked if they will be there this year. I hope they are. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again. We haven't seen most of the family since June.

3. Baby, It's Cold Outside sung by Dean Martin

My favorites list changes every year.

4. Someday at Christmas sung by Stevie Wonder
3. Baby, It's Cold Outside sung by Dean Martin
